A Weekend In Susquehanna County

This weekend I took a break from portraits, but not from the camera. I don’t feel the same without a camera in hand, in “ i’ll only take personal family photos” ALWAYS turns into me snapping away at all the cool things around me, and then wanting to share them with ALL people so you can see what I saw!

We stayed our two nights at Camp Bluestone in Ararat, Pennsylvania. The cabin that we stayed in was called Ace Cabin, and it was so lovely. The inside was modern and still rustic at the same time ( think Mel’s cabin in Virgin River). My favorite part was sitting out on the balcony and watching a sunset , making a few smores, and then having the luxury of a walk in shower with rain shower head. I don’t think I’ll ever tent camp again. Oh, Also! it’s pet friendly! Benjamin enjoyed his stay too…

I also have to mention that the weather for Spring was just awesome and completely my type of climate. The days were warm but not hot, and the nights were sweatshirt weather. So nothing was ever uncomfortable in the sense of either being too hot tor too cold. That’s pretty important for me to share. I don’t think that should fool anyone though, because I did see a snow gauge there that I was told measures the high snow of a couple feet in the winter.

We spent Saturday at Red Rock BBQ in Susquehanna, PA where they had a car show and live music! The lunch was delicious, I had the best fried chicken i’ve EVER had while listening to the band play, and Oliver got in on a game of touch football out in the back lawn. Jon ate 3 different kinds of bbq meat and flew his drone!

On our final day, we drove to Salt Springs State Park in Montrose, PA to hike around and visit the park. We were most stoked about the waterfall, but the land there was gorgeous and there was much more to see. The houses on the property are really neat to look at, I saw this interesting 1800’s kitchen garden that I grabbed a shot off, and further out into the camping area there was a flower garden that was stunning ( with a cute little kids entrance) that I unfortunately did not grab a photo of but enjoyed very much with my eyes. Ben turned into an adventure chihuahua and enjoyed the climb to the falls, but made the grave mistake of falling into the water. He was still a good sport and continued on and I took some photos to prove to his chihuahua friends that he made the journey.

To cap off the weekend, we stopped at Endless Brewing in Montrose, PA where we enjoyed a yummy brunch casserole! I washed it down with a cherry tart cider, which I am now obsessed with, and Jon ordered a flight of drinks he enjoyed. Also….pet friendly! We challenged each other to a corn hole game ( Ben was on my team) I also realized I did not get any photos…it was because I was too tired and hungry, and after my belly was full I spent the remainder at the outside picnic table enjoying the breeze. Never fails though….Jon definitely got footage, so Im sure you’ll see some of that along the way.
