Capturing Fairytales: A Whimsical Studio Fairy Photography Session
It’s amazing what some wings and a wand can do! We played with some props in studio for a very cool modern fairy look that is obvious it was done in studio, and then we made some real magic planning for this one photo…. where my client poses as two versions of herself , 1. the innocent and nice whimsical fairy and 2. the devilish instigator who taunts the other with the glowing orb light.
For this photo I had to plan my forest scene ahead of time so I know where to put my light in studio so that it matches the light in the scene. Each photo had to be shot with the model being lit differently.
After I got what I needed to make this image, we opened the session into a more modern session posing in studio while my model worked with the props.
Lately I love capturing the lighting and backgrounds in the actual background to show its studio atmosphere.
Tips for Your Own Fairy Session:
Inspired to create your own fairy magic? Here are a few tips:
Location: While a studio setting allows for complete control over the environment, a natural setting can also be magical. Look for places with lush greenery, soft sunlight filtering through trees, or a flowing stream.
Costume & Props: Don't be afraid to get creative! Think ethereal fabrics, flower crowns, and sparkly accessories. Props like bubbles, feathers, and glowing orbs can add a touch of whimsy.
Lighting: Soft, diffused light is your friend. Experiment with colored gels to create a magical atmosphere.
A Spark of Imagination:
A fairy photography session is more than just a photo shoot; it's an experience. By using a little creativity and imagination, you can create photographs that capture the wonder and magic of fairies.
